How We Verify Accounts and Contacts

Verification is at the heart of trust on Bandhan. We confirm contact details before they can ever be shown to other users.
This page explains what we verify, why it matters, and the simple rule behind it all: only verified contact information can be exposed.

Why Verification Matters

A genuine matrimonial connection starts with genuine contact details. Verification helps make sure the people on Bandhan can be reached and are who they say they are.
Improves Trust
Verified contact details give other families confidence that they can genuinely reach you.
Reduces Fraud
Requiring verification makes it much harder to create fake or throwaway accounts.
Improves Safety
Only confirmed, reachable contact details are ever shared with other users.
Builds Genuine Connections
Verified contacts help real families connect with real families, which is what Bandhan is for.

Mobile Number Verification

Mandatory during registration
Mobile number verification is required for every account. You cannot complete registration without verifying your mobile number.
How it works:
1
Enter your mobile number
You provide your mobile number when you create your Bandhan account.
2
Receive a one-time password (OTP)
We send a one-time password to that number by SMS.
3
Confirm the OTP
You enter the OTP to prove the number is yours. Your account is then a verified, mobile-verified account.

Email Verification

Email verification is optional — your account works without it. However, an unverified email address can never be shown to other users.
Email verification is optional and can be completed at any time from your profile.
A verified email can be exposed on your advertisements, based on your own preferences.
An unverified email address cannot be exposed to other users under any circumstances.
To verify your email, request a one-time password from your profile, then enter the code we send to that address. Changing your email later resets its verified status, so you would verify the new address before it can be exposed.

Secondary Contact Verification

You may add a secondary contact number — for example, a family member's number — so that others have an additional way to reach you. Like every contact on Bandhan, it must be verified before it can be exposed.
A secondary contact number must be verified before it can be exposed.
Verification uses the same simple OTP process as your primary mobile number.
An unverified secondary contact stays hidden and is never shown to other users.
Changing your secondary contact number resets its verification, so you would verify the new number again before it can be exposed.

Contact Visibility Rules

One simple rule
Only verified contact information can be made visible to other users. Unverified contact details always remain hidden.
This rule applies everywhere your contact details could appear, including:
Contact preferences you set on your profile.
Contact details revealed on your advertisements.
Any exported or shared listing details.
You are always in control of which verified details you choose to expose. Verifying a contact does not make it public — it only makes it eligible to be exposed if you decide to.

Verification Status Indicators

Across the app you will see clear status indicators that show which of your contact details are verified.
Verified Mobile
Verified Email
Verified Secondary Contact
Where a contact is not yet verified, you will see an "Unverified" indicator with a shortcut to complete verification. Verified details are clearly marked so you always know what can be exposed.

Security and Privacy

Verification information is used only for account security and trust purposes — to confirm your contact details belong to you and to protect the community from fraud. It is handled in line with our Privacy Policy.
Remember that Bandhan will never ask you to share a one-time password with another person. An OTP is only ever entered into the Bandhan app to verify your own contact details.

Future Verification Enhancements

More ways to build trust
As Bandhan grows, we may introduce additional verification methods to further improve safety and trust on the platform. Any new methods will be explained clearly and, where optional, will remain your choice.
